The land of fire and ice and a truly amazing place to dive between continental plates
Iceland really is a spectacular and exciting destination which will surprise and delight visitors. It is called the land of fire and ice due to the glaciers and snow caps sitting right next to the steaming geyser, bubbling springs and volcanos. There is so much to do here and we have so many different activities here that we can tailor your holiday so that you maximise your time here. All this and it is just a 3 hour flight from the UK.
Diving highlights (also possible to snorkel)
Silfra Silfra has been voted one of the top ten dive sites in the world and it is easy to see why. It truly is a unique dive site which is in between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. The Silfra fissure sits in the Thingvellir National Park and this freshwater dive takes you into a subaquatic chasm which feels like you are diving onto the set of a science fiction movie. This site is of great geological significance and you will be amazed with the almost limitless visibility at Silfra, which is due to the fact that water is filtered through the porous lava rock fields before it gets to this canyon formed of incredible rock formations, highlighted in a variety of sublime colours. The depths here vary between ten and forty meters but as the water clarity is so good this can easily be done snorkelling for those who aren't qualified to dive. The park regulations limit this dive at eighteen meters and has a gentle drifting current that allowed you to drift along taking in the unparalleled beauty of Silfra.
Salt and Fresh water dives Marine gardens, thermal chimneys, crystal clear fresh water lakes, Fjords and geothermal hot springs - Iceland really does have it all. We have plenty of sites to keep divers and snorkelers happy, you can even dive fresh and salt water in one dive! These are sites that just aren't found anywhere else in the world. Although not many people have dived this island, preferring the more tropical temperatures those who have always come back raving about it and rate the experience as being some of the best diving of their lives.
Reykjavik The beating heart of the land of fire and ice, Reykjavik is the northern most capital city, with colourful buildings, inspiring design, interesting, friendly and creative people. For such a small city it is strikingly cosmopolitain and has loads to ofter travellers and we use some of the great hotels here for our base. It has a great selection of places to eat and to head out to at night and a real variety seeing that it really is a town compared to most cities.
