Great shore diving and the spectacular Blue Hole is not to be missed
Dahab is situated at the foot of the Sinai mountains only 100km north of Sharm el Sheikh. Dahab which means gold in Arabic was originally a Bedouin settlement and has now become a unique resort with a very laid back feel. A great place to experience some of the most spectacular and adventurous diving in the Red Sea.
When famous dive site names like the Blue Hole and the Canyon are mentioned you know there is some fantastic diving to be had. Dahab has easy shore access diving, some via jeep or camel safaris so it really gives your diving a feeling of adventure and it is suitable for divers of all levels and experience. The drop offs and deep water outside of the reefs bring with it the chance to see pelagic and sometimes sharks to complement the vast number of reef fish.
LEARNING TO DIVE Dahab is a great option for learning to dive as a lot of the diving is from the shore. A lot of the time your confined water dives are done in the sea so in-between skills you will already have time to enjoy the view. Some sites have nice large sloping sand so it's a very comfortable place to learn. The coral gardens offer divers a range of depths with lots of spectacular marine life at shallower depths enabling you to gain experience on really nice dives. A dive site that is often used for beginner divers is The Islands and is less than 18 metres but this dive has magical collection of vivid corals, amphitheatres and bowls house turtles and shimmering barracuda. We can arrange for you to do your referral dives here in the UK with our sister company www.idiveteam.com and then you can do your qualifying PADI open water dives with one of our affiliated schools in Dahab.
QUALIFIED DIVERS Dahab has many attractions but its fabulous underwater topography is some of the best in the Red Sea. If you are an experienced diver or a budding photographer then you really will have so many spectacular dive sites to choose from situated very close to shore. It's also a good resort for deep and tech divers and we can organise trips for you to experience the Blue Hole, the Bells and the Canyon. We will leave the depths of below 130m of the Blue Hole to the technical divers but us 'normal' divers can experience the amazing pool formation in the reef at the Bells. The water here is absolutely stunning, so clear and the deepest blue you will have ever seen. As you approach the drop off you will be amazed as it is absolutely vertical and a huge variety of marine life make a home in the overhangs and caves. As you end the dive you can access the Blue Hole itself at only about seven metres. It's easy to see why the Canyon is so popular. You can gain access to this subterranean underwater tunnel from a number of points and inside you will find caves, grottos and a beautiful chamber at twenty metres which is filled with brightly coloured anthias and swirling shoals of glass fish.
